Restoc vs Assisty: a narrower tool for reorder alerts

If you are looking for an Assisty alternative, Restoc is the narrow option: one job, reorder alerts for Shopify stores with 50 to 2,000 SKUs. This page sets out what Restoc is built to do, what it will not do, and what to check on Assisty's own listing before you decide.

Where Restoc and Assisty sit

If you are shopping for an Assisty alternative, start with what you actually want the app to do. Assisty is an inventory reports and forecasting app for Shopify. Restoc is narrower on purpose. It watches stock and tells you when a SKU crosses its reorder point, and that is the whole product.

We will not put words in another vendor's mouth. We did not verify Assisty's current feature list, plan names or prices before writing this page, so we do not quote them anywhere on it. Their own App Store listing and their own site are the source for that, and both are listed under sources. Everything below about Restoc is ours to state precisely.

What Restoc is built to do

Restoc installs through Shopify OAuth and is built to pull inventory levels and sales history through webhooks and a scheduled sync job. It is a web app. There is no mobile app and no browser extension.

From that data it calculates a reorder point per SKU using two inputs: a sales velocity window you choose, 7, 14 or 30 days, and the supplier lead time you type in for that SKU. When a SKU crosses its reorder point, Restoc is built to fire an alert by email and to a Slack webhook. Once a week it produces a reorder report, viewable in the app and exportable as CSV, listing every SKU below its reorder point with a suggested order quantity. The dashboard shows current stock, days of inventory remaining and reorder status for each active SKU.

That list is short because the product is short. If you need demand forecasting, purchase order creation or multi-location planning, Restoc does not do those things and we are not going to imply otherwise.

What you gain from a narrower tool

One number, not a report library

The weekly reorder report lists only the SKUs below their reorder point, each with a suggested order quantity. Nothing else competes for your attention on the page.

Alerts that come to you

A reporting tool waits for you to open it. Restoc is built to push an email and a Slack message at the moment a SKU crosses its reorder point, so the reorder window does not depend on you remembering to look.

Days of cover at a glance

The dashboard shows current stock, days of inventory remaining and reorder status per active SKU. That is the view you scan on a Monday morning before you call a supplier.

Inputs you control

You pick the velocity window, 7, 14 or 30 days, and you enter the lead time per SKU. A slow supplier and a fast seller do not have to share the same assumptions.

Priced for a small catalogue

Starter is $19 a month for up to 200 tracked SKUs, with a 60-day free trial on every plan so at least one full weekly reorder cycle runs before any charge.

When to choose which

Choose Restoc when the job is timing

You run roughly 50 to 2,000 SKUs from one location. You already know what sells. What hurts is missing the reorder window on a hero SKU and finding out from a customer. You want an alert in Slack or your inbox, a short weekly list of what to order and how much, and a dashboard that tells you how many days of cover each SKU has left. You do not want to learn a planning platform to get there. That is the shape Restoc is built for, and that is the shape it stops at.

Choose Assisty when the job is analysis

If, when you read their listing, Assisty covers work Restoc does not, that is a straightforward reason to choose it. Reporting depth, demand forecasting, purchase order workflows, multi-location and multi-channel views: none of those are in Restoc, on any plan, and we will not pretend they are coming this quarter. A merchant who needs to build a buying plan across several warehouses is not the merchant we built for. Check their pricing tab too. If they offer an entry tier that suits your catalogue better than ours, that matters more than anything written here.

Running both is a reasonable answer

These are not mutually exclusive tools. Some merchants will keep a reporting app for the monthly buying review and want a small alerting app watching the shelf in between. Restoc reads inventory and sales through Shopify's own API, so it does not care what else is installed.

If you are earlier than this and still deciding what category of app you need at all, our guide on how to choose a Shopify inventory app when you don't need an ERP works through the questions in order: catalogue size, number of locations, whether you need a forecast or a signal, and what you are willing to pay per month for either.

Questions

Is Restoc a drop-in replacement for Assisty?

No, and we would not describe it that way. Restoc covers one job, reorder point alerting with a weekly reorder report and a days-of-cover dashboard. If you rely on reporting or forecasting features, compare your current usage against the Restoc column in the table above before switching.

Does Restoc do demand forecasting or purchase orders?

No. Restoc calculates a reorder point from a sales velocity window of 7, 14 or 30 days and the lead time you enter, then alerts you and suggests an order quantity in the weekly report. It does not build a demand forecast and it does not create purchase orders.

How do the alerts reach me?

By email and to a Slack webhook, fired when a SKU crosses its reorder point. Delivery runs through a background job built to be idempotent, so a re-run should not re-send the same crossing twice.

Can I get the reorder list out of the app?

Yes. The weekly reorder report is viewable in the app and exportable as CSV, listing every SKU below its reorder point with a suggested order quantity.

Does Restoc support multiple locations?

Not yet. Every plan covers one location. If you need per-location reorder points today, Restoc is not the right tool and we would rather say so now.

How many SKUs can Restoc track?

Up to 200 on Starter at $19 a month, up to 1,000 on Growth at $49, and up to 2,000 on Pro at $99. Caps are enforced on the server, so the plan you are on is the plan you get.

Is there a trial?

Every plan includes a 60-day free trial, set up so at least one full weekly reorder cycle completes before the first charge. Annual billing is offered at signup at ten months' price for twelve months.

Can I try Restoc today?

Not yet. Restoc is pre-release and currently taking waitlist signups. Nothing on this page is a claim about a shipped, installed app in other merchants' stores.
