Restoc vs Stockie: reorder alerts only, or purchase orders and stocktakes too

If you are weighing Stockie Inventory Management against something narrower, the split is simple. Restoc watches your stock and alerts you by email and Slack when a SKU crosses its reorder point, with a weekly reorder report you can export as CSV; Stockie's listing covers a wider job that includes purchase orders and stocktakes.

Two different jobs, both filed under inventory management

Stockie Inventory Management is sold as a wide inventory app. Its Shopify App Store listing, read on 9 October 2026, says: "Manage inventory, purchase orders and stocktakes. Know what to reorder and when." The capability lines we recorded from that listing, in our own words, cover low stock alerts by email or Slack, min and max levels with lead times and safety stock, demand forecasting, purchase order generation and barcode receiving, stocktakes and cycle counts, landed cost tracking and supplier management, and API access. On the same date the listing showed four plans: Basic at $4.99 a month, Advanced at $9.99, Pro at $29.99 and Pro Plus at $59.99. Each carried a 14 day free trial. Its rating was 4.9 out of 5 from 163 reviews.

Restoc is narrower on purpose. It calculates a reorder point per SKU from your sales velocity and your own lead time. It alerts you by email, and by Slack webhook on Growth and above, when a SKU crosses that point. It produces a weekly reorder report listing what is below its reorder point with a suggested order quantity, viewable in the app and exportable as CSV.

That is the whole of it. There is no purchase order form. No supplier record. No stocktake. No barcode scanning. If those matter to you, that is a real reason to look at a wider app, and we would rather say so here than after you have installed.

One more thing to be straight about. Restoc is not in the App Store yet. The waitlist is open, this page describes what it is built to do, and there are no merchant reviews to point at.

What Restoc gives you, in full

An alert on the crossing, not a daily digest to read

A SKU crosses its reorder point and an alert goes out by email, and to a Slack webhook on Growth and above. The delivery job is idempotent. One crossing produces one message, not the same SKU nagging you every run.

A reorder point you can see the working for

Pick a sales velocity window of 7, 14 or 30 days for the store. Enter the lead time per SKU. The engine does the arithmetic. Pro adds a per-SKU velocity window override for items that sell on a different rhythm to the rest of the catalogue.

A weekly list of what to order, and how much

The weekly reorder report lists every SKU below its reorder point with a suggested order quantity. Read it in the app, or export the CSV and send it to whoever raises the order.

A dashboard that answers one question per row

Current stock, days of inventory remaining and reorder status for each active SKU. No landed cost. No inventory valuation. Nothing you did not come here for.

Sixty days to see a real reorder cycle

The free trial runs 60 days. The first charge is held until at least one full weekly reorder cycle has completed, so you judge the product on an alert that actually fired.

One invoice, the Shopify one

Starter is $29 a month, Growth $59, Pro $99. Each is billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice, not by a separate card payment. Yearly is ten months' price for twelve.

When to choose which

Choose Stockie if the purchasing workflow is the problem

Some weeks the paperwork is the bottleneck. Raising purchase orders. Chasing suppliers. Receiving stock against a scanner. Counting shelves. An alert app does none of that. Stockie's listing covers that ground, and its lower tiers sit well below our price. If supplier records and landed cost belong in the same place as the reorder suggestion, take the wider app seriously. If its Basic plan at $4.99 a month does the job, that is a straightforward answer.

Choose Restoc if the problem is the warning, not the paperwork

Plenty of merchants already have a purchasing habit that works. A supplier they email. A spreadsheet. A WhatsApp thread. What they lack is the warning. Since the retired first-party inventory app closed, merchants on the Shopify Community are doing the arithmetic by hand in a spreadsheet, "reorder point = (avg daily sales × supplier lead time) + safety stock". By hand means you only find out a hero SKU is thin when you happen to look.

Restoc exists for that gap. It pulls your inventory levels and sales history from Shopify. It calculates the reorder point from your own velocity window and lead time. It tells you when a SKU crosses, before the window closes. A narrow tool is less to configure, less to learn and less to abandon.

Where it is genuinely close

Both send low stock alerts by email or Slack. Both work out a reorder figure rather than leaving you on a fixed threshold. If those two lines are your whole requirement, the decision comes down to three things: price, how much surrounding software you want to carry, and track record. Stockie's listing showed 163 reviews on 9 October 2026. Restoc has none, because it has not shipped. We will not pretend the second is the safer bet today.

A note on cost, honestly

Restoc is not the cheapest way to get a stock alert. We are not going to put a number on what a stockout costs you. Here is the reasoning instead. The gap between a few dollars a month and $29 is small next to one missed reorder window on a SKU that sells. A narrow tool earns its place by being the one you still read in month six.

What Restoc costs

Starter, $29 a month

Up to 200 tracked SKUs, one location. Reorder point per SKU, a store-wide velocity window of 7, 14 or 30 days, email alerts on crossing, the weekly reorder report with CSV export, and the days-of-inventory dashboard. $290 a year if you pay yearly.

Growth, $59 a month

Up to 1,000 tracked SKUs, five times Starter's capacity, enforced at sync time. Adds Slack alerts through an incoming webhook alongside email. Everything in Starter. $590 a year if you pay yearly.

Pro, $99 a month

Up to 2,000 tracked SKUs. Everything in Growth, plus custom reorder rules: a per-SKU sales velocity window override for lines that sell in bursts. $990 a year if you pay yearly.

Questions

Can Restoc raise purchase orders like Stockie does?

No. Restoc has no purchase order form and no supplier records. The weekly reorder report lists each SKU below its reorder point with a suggested order quantity, and exports as CSV, so you can paste it into whatever you already send your supplier. If you want the order raised inside the app, a wider tool is the right choice.

Does Restoc do stocktakes or barcode receiving?

No. Stockie's listing capabilities, as we recorded them on 9 October 2026, include stocktakes and cycle counts plus purchase order generation and barcode receiving. Restoc does neither. It reads inventory levels and sales history from your store and watches for reorder point crossings.

Is Slack included on every Restoc plan?

Slack alerts through an incoming webhook come with Growth at $59 a month and with Pro at $99. Starter at $29 sends email alerts. Both channels fire on the same event, a SKU crossing its reorder point.

Why is Restoc more expensive than Stockie's lower tiers?

It is, and we are not going to argue otherwise. Stockie's listing showed Basic at $4.99 and Advanced at $9.99 a month on 9 October 2026. Restoc starts at $29. If price is the deciding factor and a cheaper app covers your requirement, take the cheaper app.

How many SKUs can Restoc track?

200 on Starter, 1,000 on Growth, 2,000 on Pro, enforced at sync time, across one location. Restoc is built for stores in the 50 to 2,000 SKU range. If your catalogue runs past that, it is the wrong shape for you.

Can I run both apps at once?

Nothing stops you installing more than one inventory app on a Shopify store. There is little point paying twice for the same alert, though. Decide whether you need the purchasing workflow or just the warning, and keep one.

Can I try Restoc today?

Not yet. Restoc is pre-launch and the waitlist is open. When it ships, each plan starts with a 60 day free trial, billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice, with the first charge held until a full weekly reorder cycle has run.
