Getting started
This article takes you from your first sign-in to your first reorder point, which is the moment Restoc starts doing its job on your own stock. It covers only what a first session needs: sign in, connect your Shopify store, pick a velocity window, and give one SKU its lead time.
Restoc is not open yet, so anything on this page about what it does is what it is being built to do.
What this article helps with
Use this on your first visit, or the first time you come back and the dashboard still looks empty.
Restoc works out a reorder point per SKU from two numbers: how fast that SKU sells, and how long your supplier takes. The first number comes from your store. The second one only you know, so the setup ends with you typing it in.
When the first lead time is saved, Restoc computes that SKU's reorder point and starts watching it. That is the finish line for this article. Everything else, Slack, the weekly report, CSV export, plan limits, has its own article.
From sign-in to your first reorder point
Restoc signs you in with your email address and your password. There is no separate login to remember for the app itself.
- Connect your Shopify store
The install flow asks Shopify for read access to your products, inventory levels and orders. Your store domain and the access token are held server-side and never shown back to you in the app.
- Let the first sync finish
Restoc pulls your inventory levels and sales history, then keeps them current through Shopify webhooks plus a scheduled sync job. Until that first pull completes there is nothing for the engine to count.
- Check the dashboard has your SKUs
The dashboard lists each active SKU with its current stock, days of inventory remaining and reorder status. If your SKUs are listed, the data side is done and the rest is your input.
- Choose your sales velocity window
Pick 7, 14 or 30 days in reorder rules. Seven days reacts fastest to a change in demand. Thirty days smooths items that sell in bursts rather than evenly. Fourteen sits between the two. You can change it later.
- Enter the lead time for one SKU
Start with the SKU you can least afford to run out of. Lead time is the whole number of days between placing the order and the stock being on your shelf, including your supplier's dispatch and transit. It must be a whole number from 1 to 365.
- Save it, and the reorder point is set
Restoc computes that SKU's reorder point from its sales velocity over your chosen window and the lead time you entered, then watches it around the clock and raises an alert when stock crosses the line. That is your first reorder point, and the product is now working on your own stock.
If it did not work
No SKUs on the dashboard
The store connection has not finished pulling your catalogue. Restoc records when your store last synced, how much of the catalogue it read and any sync error, so the state of that pull is visible rather than silent.
A SKU shows no sales
Sales velocity is counted from your store's own order history inside the window you picked. A SKU with no sales in that window has no velocity to work from, so its reorder point stays at zero until sales land. Try a 30-day window for slow movers.
The lead time will not save
The value is checked on the server. Anything that is not a whole number of days from 1 to 365 is rejected with the reason.

Questions
Do I need a card to start?
No. Starting the free trial needs no card. Every plan carries a 30-day free trial, and when you do subscribe the charge appears on your Shopify invoice.
Do I have to set a lead time for every SKU?
Each SKU's reorder point uses that SKU's own lead time, so a SKU without one is not yet set up. Work down from the items you cannot afford to run out of rather than trying to do a whole catalogue in one sitting.
Which velocity window should I pick?
Seven days if demand moves quickly and you want the reorder point to follow it. Thirty days if your items sell in bursts and a short window would swing the number around. Fourteen days is the middle ground. It is one setting for the store, changeable whenever you like.
Where do the alerts go?
Email alerts fire when a SKU crosses its reorder point, sent to your account email until you change it in alert settings. Slack alerts through an incoming webhook are part of the Growth and Pro plans.
Can I use a different velocity window for one SKU?
Per-SKU sales velocity window overrides are part of the Pro plan. On Starter and Growth the window applies to every tracked SKU.
What happens after my first reorder point is set?
Restoc watches that SKU and alerts you when stock crosses the point. Each week it also compiles a reorder report of every SKU below its reorder point with a suggested order quantity, viewable in the app and exportable as CSV.
