Where setup stops before a first reorder point

Four steps stand between signing up and a first reorder point: the account, the store connection, the first sync, and the first lead time. This page walks them in order and names what each one needs from you, so you can see which step your setup stopped at.

Restoc is not open yet, so anything on this page about what it does is what it is being built to do.

What this page covers

A reorder point is the number that makes Restoc useful. It exists for a SKU once that SKU has a lead time, because Restoc works the point out from the lead time and your sales velocity window of 7, 14 or 30 days. Everything before that is setup.

Restoc records which setup step your account has reached, and when it reached it. That is there so a setup that stopped can be found and fixed, instead of looking like a store that lost interest.

Read this when your dashboard is emptier than you expected. Find the last step you got through, then read what the next one needs.

The four steps to a first reorder point

StepWhat it meansWhat the next step needs
Account createdYou have signed in with your email and password. No store is attached yet.Your .myshopify.com store domain, so Restoc can read from Shopify.
Store connectedRestoc holds the store domain and an Admin API access token for it.A first sync, which reads your products and inventory levels.
First syncYour SKUs and current stock are in. Reorder points are still blank.A lead time on at least one SKU.
First lead time savedThat SKU has a reorder point, and Restoc watches it around the clock.Nothing. This is the step you were heading for.

Find the step you are on

  1. Stopped at account created

The account exists and nothing is connected. Open onboarding and enter your .myshopify.com domain. Restoc reads products, inventory levels and orders from Shopify, so until a store is attached there is nothing to show.

  2. Stopped at store connected

The connection is made, the catalogue has not arrived. The first sync is what reads your products and inventory levels into Restoc. Until it runs, the SKU list is empty.

  3. Stopped at first sync

Your stock is in and every reorder point reads blank. That is expected. A reorder point needs a lead time, and only you know how long your supplier takes.

  4. Set one lead time

Save a lead time against a SKU. Restoc takes that lead time and your velocity window of 7, 14 or 30 days and computes the reorder point for it.

  5. Check the dashboard

The dashboard shows current stock, days of inventory remaining and reorder status for each active SKU. A SKU with a lead time now carries a status instead of a gap.

  6. Then widen it

Work through the rest of your SKUs the same way. The weekly reorder report lists every SKU below its reorder point with a suggested order quantity, in the app and as a CSV export.

If your setup is stuck

Email support@restocapp.com with your .myshopify.com domain and the last step you got through. Every message there lands in the support desk.

Restoc holds the step record and its timestamp while your account is open, so a stall can be looked at rather than guessed at. Settings > Account exports a JSON file of everything held about your account and store, and deletes all of it at once when you ask.

Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial, and starting it needs no card.

Questions

What counts as a first reorder point?

A lead time saved against a SKU. Restoc takes that lead time and your sales velocity window of 7, 14 or 30 days and computes the point for that SKU.

Why is the reorder column blank after my first sync?

Because no lead time has been saved yet. Stock and days of inventory remaining come from Shopify, but a reorder point needs the lead time you type in.

Does Restoc record which setup step my account reached?

Yes. It records the steps account created, store connected, first sync and first lead time saved, with the time each was reached, so a stalled setup can be found and fixed.

How long is that step record kept?

While your account is open. Deleting your account from Settings > Account removes it along with your Shopify connection, SKUs, sales records, alerts and reports.

Do all my SKUs need lead times before anything works?

No. Each SKU gets a reorder point as soon as it has a lead time. The rest can follow later.

My store is connected but nothing synced. What next?

Email support@restocapp.com with your store domain. Restoc stores sync bookkeeping, including when the store last synced, how much of the catalogue it read and any sync error, so a partial or stalled sync can be seen rather than quietly showing stale stock.
